California Cross Stomping

You know the times (and Culture) have changed when the desecration of the Christian cross hardly raises an eyebrow. They always say that what starts in California spreads to the rest of the country. Let's just hope that this trend travels really slow! (See minute 2:20)

Does anyone else see a parallel between the extreme hostility shown this woman and the inordinate disdain Andrew Sullivan heaps upon Sarah Palin to this day?

And I'm not a Palin backer, just an observer.

Idiots. Stomping on a little old ladies cross is sure to sway more people to their side. I also wonder how many of those pussies who took on a weak old woman, would do the same to the Koran?

My mother worked in a pharmaceutical giant in the 80's when AIDS was discovered. In fact, she was one of the key MD's at her company. She told me that big pharma at the onset was keen in helping AIDS sufferers.... that is until gay activists began publicly bullying the execs, chaining themselves to the gates of the company, and demanding that Congress force big pharma to give away for free any anti-AIDS drugs the companies would spend hundreds of millions of dollars to develop. So many exec's shrugged their shoulders and said, "f$!k 'em". An big pharma's development of those drugs, wilted.

"What we are clearly seeing..is a lot of anger and a lot of hate quite honestly on both sides"

That anchorman is an idiot.

How is this and all the vandalism/window breaking/graffiti not prosecuted and recognized for what they clearly are, hate crimes?

I watched Jon Stuart's Daily Show tonight. He, like Sullivan, remains unhinged about Palin.

I like how Camille Paglia described it:

"Liberal Democrats are going to wake up from their sadomasochistic, anti-Palin orgy with a very big hangover. The evil genie released during this sorry episode will not so easily go back into its bottle. A shocking level of irrational emotionalism and at times infantile rage was exposed at the heart of current Democratic ideology -- contradicting Democratic core principles of compassion, tolerance and independent thought."

Josephus,

What painting is that that you use for your blog? It looks like a Rockwell. I'd love to know the name of it!

First, it's good that her values are informed by her religion. But it's bad that she would then try to use her religion and its symbols in a political debate.

Second, the Prop 8 opponents are jerks. They'd already won the debate when the lady decided to use a religious symbol as a rhetorical club, they didn't need to stomp on the symbol of her faith.

Is this what we should expect in the future? Politics by intimidation rather than persuasion?

So much for gay groups' touting of free speech, freedom of association, or equal rights. They've clearly demonstrated they don't believe in any of that.

As I've always said, "hate is not a family value, it's a gay value!"

Why? Symbols are meant to convey a lot of meaning in a compact package.

Just like stomping on the symbol means something.

Everyone gets consequences.

Anyone who believes those are core Democratic principles must not know any Democrats.
